I am the Research Director for an entrepreneurial initiative of the UNC School of Government that hosts collaborative projects. Our mission is to promote a fair & effective criminal justice system, public safety, and economic prosperity through an evidence-based approach to criminal justice policy. My responsibilities include oversight of all research and evaluation efforts conducted by the Lab. Many of our projects use data from jails and the court system to assess the impact of policy on arrests and other criminal justice outcomes. We run the Measuring Justice Dashboard, a major resource to stakeholders seeking to understand key justice metrics across the state and in all counties; the dashboard uses 8 years of recent data on all criminal records in the state, including criminal charging, citations and arrests, summons and warrants, and pretrial failures. My work with data includes frequent use of Excel and Stata, as well as the review of code for data management and analysis in R and Python.
